What exactly is a broken link?

Yes! Broken Link.  Did you have any URL in your website, which is showing 404 or this page is removed when opened? Well, then….This is called broken link. This is a very hot topic today. There are lots of websites today with lots of broken links. In my 6 years of seo life, I have seen many websites they do have broken links (Mostly in e-commerce portals, where the admin is adding new products each day but forgot to remove the old ones or sold ones). Today, on 2017 broken links are really damaging the seo performance of the website. Those sites who have broken links must remove broken links very shortly. 

Let’s know the details of broken links today. I also just explained to you as well. Broken links are those are actually removed or showing it is broken. But, why? They can be broken various reasons. They are follows – 

1. Those pages are removed. Mostly happened to online shopping sites. When a product is sold, that pages is removed but not removed from indexes. When user somehow could access those pages – well, they will not be so happy with you. 
2.  A website is removed, then it is still showing in search engines or somewhere and when user is going to visit that page – it says the website is removed.
3.  The URL structure is changed, you may be moved your website to a new address.
4.  Full website is now changed to a new website or moved to a new address and when users are going to open old ones they just facing 404...
5. he user has software or is behind a firewall that blocks access to the destination website.
6.  The website owner linked to a site that is behind a firewall that does not allow outside access (such as an Intranet site or a restricted access area on a website).

When you are looking at this, make sure you removed those, otherwise Google will remove you from their indexing. The users will also have a bad impression on your business.

Removing broken links is also removing the one seo backlogs. To make your site seo friendly you must remove the 404 pages. It is really hampering the seo.
